elemental faeries

these were a series of pictures i did for a TAFE colour assignment. Each faerie represents an element (the captain planet ones bwahaha) so wind, water, heart, fire, earth.

i did these in watercolours on black card and then white gauche to add highlights. i thought they looked really effective! except the wind faerie cos i rushed her and she is a bit of a mole. maybe cos she's blonde. i didn't say that.

Ville Valo is textual

ok so now i'm up to the TAFE era of my artistic existence.

we had to make a portrait out of text. this is meant to be Ville Valo, lead singer of the band HIM. all the text is song lyrics. 

it was oh so fiddly! but rather fun.

man's best friend?

this was a 'metamorphosis' project for TAFE.

i think i used gauche to paint it?

then afterwards i decided to add the text to give it more of a concept.

humans are idiots and shouldn't be allowed to have guns.

i think this was one of the first 'designy' type things i did... can't remember when but it is distant in my memories.

its a bit cute

i really like anime/manga so i decided to attempt it. it took so much longer than i thought. damn simple lines. this was a few years ago now

more orlando bloom moments. this was going to be the ned kelly gang but i clearly only found it necessary to draw orlando's character, the young joe byrne.

but damn he looks good with a beard. shit.

shirley barber is pretty much my idol. this is one of her mermaids i copied because it was just so damn pretty to look at. mine does not do it justice at all.

this little girl is the protagonist of one of her other books i have. i honestly used to believe that it was me. obsessed.

clearly i didn't paint the picture below. shirley shirley shirley.

this faerie is probable one of the ugliest i have ever seen. and for that reason i have come to the conclusion that she is a fake, and simply a human posing as a faerie. as a real faerie surely would be more beautiful and enchanting.

i used to draw soooo faintly! which is funny as my brother is the complete opposite, his drawings you have trouble rubbing out, my ones you have trouble even seeing.

this is very faint and very incomplete but i ended up painting this dragon as part of my year 12 major work. i am guessing this was one of the initial sketches.

i think i did this at hong kong airport when we had a long stopover and i couldn't sleep. 

this is a sketch of achilles which it appears i never finished.

a wraith i drew for my brother? i don't know... i have it saved as 'ben's wraith' which indicates to me... nothing at all really.

the firebird. a mythical creature hatched from an egg, its feathers are the colours of fire.

and when i say mythical i don't mean mythical at all. i am simply too tired to think of the correct word.
